  • History

The Welsh Corgi is certainly an old breed, having been recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086, but its origins thought to be far older, and remain the subject of much speculation. Its name derives from the Celtic word for dog, and it may have descended from ancient Celtic breeds, whilst argument also continues as to whether it is the ancestor or descendant of the Swedish Vallhund.
